END OF JANUARY

and most of the day was spent in the desert. Our friend Larry (La84fishn') had some people from his park that wanted to explore the bombing range. We were told to meet them at the Donut Shop if we wanted to tag along. Knew that day was going to be a perfect day because it started out with the best pastries, and the price was so reasonable I ask "are you sure" when she told me the price.

One of the first places we stopped was at an old tank, now you know a brunch of Old Farts can not pass up a photo op. Next stop the first crash site.Even tho' we have been to the bombing range many time you always see something more. This year because of the ran it is much greener than I have ever seen.

First crash sites, we had been to before, but always noticed more the second time. Then on to a helicopter crash site. Not much was left there. The surrounding area was beautiful. The middle picture shows a saguaro catus at the top of the rocks.

On to the farthest part of the bombing range to see the fence between the US and Mexico, it was quite impressive. It will not really keep anyone out but the it is there to keep people from driving across. Wayne and Larry just had to place a cache at the fence......boys will be boys you know. It will be fun seeing how long it takes someone to find the cache.

Before we left for the bombing range I had gotten am email fromEd letting me know a special IHO Wayen43 would be published sometime soon, it was a big secret so I could not suggest staying home and wait for it to be published. While in the desert Larry's blackberry went off and he told Wayne there was a new cache out. Needless to say Wayne was very surprised, a month or so earlier I had asked W about they ships he had been on and what years he was where. Had to lie a little and told him the boys had some kind of report for school.

The cache has a padlock and chained to a mail box. It has all kinds of good trade item and a couple travel bugs. Wayne was very impressed with all the work Ed had put into this cache. On our way to the cache we got a call Ed and Linda, they were in the Foothills doing some caching and wanted to stop by. The best solution was to meet at Happy Greek Chef restaurant for dinner.
When we got to Old Town there was a car show going on, what a great way to kill some time till dinner. The wine colored car, parts of it was from a kit, the interior was from Africa, he is from Canada. Asked him if he drive it all the time and he said just in the summer. One of the most interesting cars was the VW chopped bug, that one really cracked me up. We had a nice dinner with Linda and Ed, a good ending of nice busy day. B
